Boston,
Massachusetts --
Joseph "Joey" Hanzich, Membership Director
for College Democrats of Massachusetts (CDM) from 2004 to 2005, died
last Thursday. He was 22.

Mr. Hanzich energetically contributed
to a variety of Democratic causes, serving as Vice President of the
Harvard College Democrats, as well as on the Executive Board of CDM.
When not involved in politics, he directed Harvard's Relay for Life
cancer fundraiser and was a member of the American Cancer Society.

After graduating from Harvard in 2006,
Mr. Hanzich studied at the University of Cambridge, where he earned
a master's degree in public health through a prestigious scholarship.
He also traveled to Santiago, Chile to work for the Chilean National
Health Care Fund, prior to his matriculation at Yale Law School this
fall. He was expected to graduate in 2010.

The College Democrats of Massachusetts
deeply regret the passing of our friend and colleague, Joey Hanzich.
He had been a great asset to our organization and a dedicated public servant. Our deepest
condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr. Hanzich.

Memorial services will be held at Yale Law School on September 30 with details to follow. A memorial will be held in Mission Viejo, California, Joey's hometown, on Sunday.  Services at Harvard are expected to follow shortly as well.
