Williams College

As the 2010-2011 academic year commenced, students at the College were left without a political group to express their thoughts and hopes for the midterm elections or future of the democratic party. It is upon this foundation that the Williams College Democrats Chapter was founded.

Through major initiatives and events – ranging from free trips to Boston for President Barack Obama’s endorsement of Governor Deval Patrick’s reelection to weekly meetings in the campus student center – the Williams College Democrats gained close to 70 members in its first year.
Our chapter knocked on over 1000 doors for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Peter Shumlin in Vermont and canvassed in Pittsfield and North Adams, Mass. through the Coordinated Campaign office. We also tabled to register students to vote during the midterm elections.

The Williams Dems have developed relationships with the Williamstown Democratic Committee, the Berkshire Brigades as well as with our local senator, Sen. Ben Downing (D-Pittsfield).
