About the Boston University Democrats:
The BU College Dems had a busy election year in 2010. We started off the fall semester with a big voter registration drive and an internship fair with over 100 attendants. We also volunteered for several Massachusetts candidates when we attended the CDM Plymouth Campaign Invasion Weekend and later earned a top spot in CDM’s Registration Rumble. We worked with the community for the GOTV effort, partnering with the Brookline Democrats to canvass for the Barney Frank campaign.

During spring semester, we went on our annual trip to Washington D.C., where we toured the DNC, had a meeting with Kal Penn at the White House Office for Public Engagement, and met with our Congressman, Mike Capuano. We invited Francis Bok, a former slave in South Sudan, to talk with our members and a group of our peers in the BU community about the need for an end to human trafficking worldwide.

We’re looking forward to getting involved in the Boston City Councilor races this fall and teaching our new members about the importance of local politics in the Democratic process. We plan to take a trip to New York City in the fall to visit the U.N. and other progressive organizations. We hope to have a local political analyst speak with our group about Boston’s history and upcoming elections sometime soon. Go Terriers!
