As you may have heard, there is a heated race in the 10th Congressional District to decide who will be running to fill Representative Delahunt’s seat on the Democratic ticket. Below is more information on each candidate and how to get involved in their campaigns leading up to the September 14th Primary!

Candidate Spotlight – Bill Keating

Bill Keating is a former district attorney, ruling on some of MA’s toughest cases, but always working to make the commonwealth communities stronger and safer. During his stint as DA, Keating worked on community based crime prevention and cracked down on white-collar criminals who committed crimes against the public and cyber criminals.

Keating always sought commonsense solutions for the problems our families and communities are facing when lawmaking.

In the State House he took on Beacon Hill and is known for being willing to stand up to his own party’s leadership for tough, but necessary reforms and to help the taxpayer. He helped to improve our public safety laws, worked to protect consumers, targeted drug traffickers and protected victims of crime and passed commonsense environmental protections. Keating wrote the law that protects lakes and streams in MA from chemical pollution. He ended the sales tax on services and the estate tax and led the fight to pass a victims bill of rights.

As DA, Keating always had the protection of our seniors, kids, and families at the forefront in his mind. For our seniors, he worked to prevent senior abuse, he cracked down on dishonest caregivers and informed them about financial exploitation that targets them. For our kids, he developed anti-bullying and violence protection, suicide prevention, and developed underage drinking prevention resources for schools and parents. In addition, he used confiscated drug money to outfit a state-of-the-art computer forensics lab in the DA’s office and made it available to all police departments across the state. For our families, he has worked to reduce incidences of demestic violence, cracked down on white-collar criminals, brought law enforcement and community members together to increase crime prevention efforts.

Keating put himself through his undergraduate years at Boston College by working full time at a near by U.S. Post Office. He lives with his wife Tevis, and have two college-age children, Patrick and Kristen.
